Italian Garlic Herb Cheese Breadsticks ~ Easy
1 (10 oz.) can refrigerated pizza crust................................1-2 TB butter, melted
about 1/4 cup EACH cheddar and mozzarella cheese, shredded (or use 1/2 cup of a shredded white/orange cheese blend)
1-2 TB freshly grated Parmesan or 3-Italian cheese
2 tsp. dried basil..................................................................1 tsp. fresh or dried rosemary
2 tsp. dried oregano............................................................1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. Kosher salt
***
Preheat oven to 425. I like to line my cookie sheet with foil first (easier clean-up), and then give a quick spritz of olive-oil nonstick spray.
Unroll the pizza dough and put it on the cookie sheet. Brush the dough with butter, and then sprinkle the cheeses and spices evenly over it.
Using a pizza cutter, cut the pizza dough lengthwise into 12 long strips. Then cut those long strips in half to make it 24 strips. (Don’t separate the strips.)
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until light golden brown. Recut them again along each strip and remove from cooking sheet. Serve sticks warm with marinara sauce or a dish with extra-virgin olive and more herbs in it, for dipping.
MEXICAN HERB CHEESE BREADSTICKS:
Substitute 1 TB. chopped fresh cilantro, 1 tsp. cumin and 1 tsp. chili powder for the spices above. I still like to use the garlic powder and salt, but you might want to also add 1 tsp. cracked red pepper. Use whatever cheeses you like (even the milder Italian cheese is fine)
