BUTTER DIP BISCUITS
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted………………………..2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
4 tsp. sugar…………………………………………...……..1 TB baking powder
1 tsp. Kosher salt……………………………………...…...1-3/4 cups Buttermilk
Buttery non-stick cooking spray (optional)
(NOTE: If you keep a container of powdered buttermilk in the pantry, you can make up as much as you need at a time for recipes)
***
Preheat oven to 350F. Spray an 8” square baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Melt the butter and pour into the pan.
In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Pour in the buttermilk. Stir with a wooden spoon until a loose dough forms. (Batter will be sticky.) Spread biscuit dough in the baking dish on top of the melted butter (the butter will ooze up so you can dip your spoon or knife into it, so the batter doesn’t stick).
Take a sharp knife (dipped in the melted butter) and cut the biscuit dough into 6 or 9 rectangles before baking. You can even spray the top of the dough with more buttery spray, if you want, before baking.
Bake for about 30 to 35 minutes or until done, rotating dish once halfway through baking. Makes 6 giant or 9 big biscuits.
