Glazed FRESH ORANGE SCONES
1-3/4 cups flour (plus more for work surface)........................2-1/2 tsp baking powder
2-1/2 TB sugar (or regular white Splenda)..............................1/4 tsp salt
6 TB unsalted butter, cold and cut into pieces...............1 large egg
1 small orange, cut into quarters (with peel) ~or 2 small tangerines, lemons or limes
5 TB heavy cream (plus more for brushing on top).................Optional: sugar to sprinkle on top
***
Preheat oven to 425 ~ line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Pulse the orange quarters in your food processor (until very finely chopped) and put into a bowl; set aside.
Put flour, baking powder, sugar and salt into bowl of food processor; add butter pieces and pulse 3-6 times or until mixture resembles coarse meal. ~
In small bowl, combine egg with cream & lightly beat with small whisk or fork ~ Add egg mixture and pulsed orange to food processor with flour mixture and pulse until it comes together (it should clump together in the center of the bowl). If mixture seems dry, add a splash more cream, but it shouldn’t be too sticky. ~
Transfer to lightly floured work surface. Pat and shape dough into 8” circle, about 1” thick. Using sharp knife, cut into 8 equal wedges. Place scones on baking sheet ~ lightly brush tops with heavy cream (can sprinkle with sugar too, if desired). Bake until golden brown (about 10-12 minutes). Let cool slightly on baking sheets; remove to wire rack to cool completely.
GLAZE:
1 square (about 1 oz.) white melting bark or wafers (could also use white chocolate chips)
few drops of orange extract
Put the melting bark into a small glass bowl and microwave for 45-60 seconds. Stir in the orange extract and keep stirring with a spoon, until all the bark is completely melted and smooth. Drizzle on top of the scones.

TIP: Stick the scones into the microwave for about 15-20 seconds to reheat, for a fresh-baked taste the next day or so.
