PRIMARY BATH REMODEL ~ before photos above ~ I believe you can find a great granite at level 1 (cheapest) and then "splurge" on tile backsplash. This "splurge" is $1000s less than spending to upgrade the level of granite.
Going for the TRUE SPA look. I've never been in an all white, hard surface with shiny fixture spa. The spas I've gone to have natural and EARTH elements ~ wood, stone and some plants. So, I mimicked that with the wood floors ~ pebbled granite ~ oil-rubbed bronze fixtures ~ tile that looks like the inside of geodes. I put a few fronds of plants in glass containers (with pebbles in the bottom) around. My colors were more gray ~ white ~ bluish tones.
