We go to my youngest daughter's house every Halloween, since they have a 2-block party ~ the kids run around and trick-or-treat, while the adults snack (drink) and talk. These are one of the "treats" that I'll bring over (and the grandkids love them too) **
Deviled SPIDER EGGS
Use your favorite deviled egg recipe, and decorate with cut black olives ~ cut extra-large pitted black olive in half and put half down on top of filled egg. Cut the other half into 8 thin slivers and place them as legs.
green “moldy” GUACAMOLE DEVILED EGGS:
4 hard-cooked eggs ………………….......... 1 TB chopped cilantro
2 avocados - peeled, pitted, and mashed
1 TB minced green onion
2 tsp minced seeded jalapeno pepper (optional)
2 tsp fresh lime juice ………………......... 1/2 tsp salt, or to taste
1 dash hot pepper sauce (e.g. Tabasco™), or to taste ~ optional
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce, or to taste
1 tsp Dijon mustard …………........………. 1 pinch paprika
In the bowl with the yolks, combine the avocado, cilantro, green onion, and jalapeno. Stir in the lime juice, and season with salt, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard. Mash well together (a fork works), and fill egg whites. Chill until serving. Sprinkle with paprika & extra cilantro to garnish, if desired.
EYEBALL EGGS:
Fill eggs with Guacamole filling (above). Use sliced green olives (with pimentos) as the center of the eye. Put a drop or 2 of red food coloring into a little dish, and use a toothpick to draw squiggly red lines out from the olive slice.
