Since I do get migraine headaches, my neurologist has limited my caffeine to 1 cup of coffee/tea in the morning and 1 in late afternoon. Therefore, I do make our pitchers of iced tea with decaf tea ~ but you can certainly use whatever works best for you! (decaf cold brew or black tea tastes exactly the same as "regular") I think that decaf iced tea tends to be a better replacement for the water that I don't drink enough of though (something about the caffeine).
FRUITY ICED TEA
This is for 1 pitcher
1 large family-sized (or 2 regular) bags of Cold Brew or ordinary black tea (can be decaf)
2 tea bags of whatever fruit tea you like best (I like peach best) ~ you could even "mix & match"
***
If you're using "Cold Brew" tea, then put the tea bag(s) into small pitcher of about 2 cups of water and let it "steep" while you do the fruit tea.
Put 1 to 1-1/2 cups of water into a microwave-proof pitcher (I use my pyrex 2-cup measure) and microwave on high for 1 minute. Stick whatever tea bags you have (that aren't Cold Brew) into the hot water (I push them under the water with a spoon, and leave the spoon there so the bags don't rise up). Let it steep for about 5 minutes. Then swish the bags around in the water; hold the bags against the side of the measure and pour the steeped tea into your pitcher.
Pour the Cold Brew into your pitcher. I pour more water over the tea bags in both the Cold Brew little pitcher, and the other tea bags in the little measure (swish the bags around in that water) and use that water to completely fill the pitcher. ** You just want to get every little last bit of tea out of all those tea bags **
FLAVOR TIPS:
Since you're using 2 fruit tea bags per pitcher, some of my favorite "mix & match" combinations are:
blueberry & peach
raspberry & peach
lemon & blueberry
mint & blueberry
Peach (by itself) is one of my favorites ** In the fall, CINNAMON APPLE is wonderful ** In the winter, I like PEPPERMINT ** and LEMON ZINGER is also good anytime of the year
