DATE NUT ACORNS
whole, pitted dates (as many as you want to make at a time)
1 whole almond for each date ........................................1 butterscotch or chocolate chip for each date
chopped or crushed nuts (any type ~ I used hazelnut here, but pecan, almond or walnut are fine)
canned frosting: chocolate, fudge, milk chocolate, caramel or spice (If you don't want to use canned frosting, you can melt a square or 2 of baking chocolate or melting chocolate.)

Stick a whole almond into each date and set the stuffed dates on a piece of waxed paper.
Put the crushed nuts on a small plate. Spread about 1-2 tsp. of the canned frosting on the top half of each filled date. Then roll the frosted end into the crushed nuts on the plate. Stick a chocolate or butterscotch chip on the top (cap) of your acorn. Let them sit on the waxed paper until the frosting hardens up. Then you can store them in a covered container (between sheets of waxed paper is best).
