Triple Chocolate HALLOWEEN WITCHES HATS
1 package triple chocolate, chocolate fudge or Devil's food cake mix
1 stick (8 TB) melted butter......................................................1 egg
1 TB unsweetened Dark cocoa powder................................1-2 tsp. Dark chocolate syrup
1 tsp. instant coffee powder.....................................................1/2 cup flour
***
about 28-30 Hershey Kisses (unwrapped before you start baking)
tube of decorator icing (I used orange, but any color is fine)
about 28-30 M&Ms for hat decoration (I didn't think the blues worked well for Halloween, and the chocolate ones blended in & you couldn't see them ~ so I ate those!)
***
Preheat oven to 350. Line baking sheets with parchment paper & set aside.
In an electric mixer, beat together the cookie ingredients until they come together and are well combined (be sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl, and get any extra dry ingredients that are in the bottom of the bowl).
I used a small cookie scoop (sprayed with buttery non-stick spray, so the batter doesn't stick to it) ~ filled between 3/4 and almost 1 full scoop each. I put 12 cookies on a tray. ( I didn't flatten them, so they puffed up. If you want them flatter, flatten them with your hand or a glass dipped in sugar).
Bake about 9-10 minutes until they're down. As soon as a tray comes out of the oven, gently twist an unwrapped Hershey Kiss on the top of each one. Then remove to rack or paper to cool completely.
When the Hershey Kisses have cooled and firmed up, you can pipe a frosting band around each one (with an extra dot of frosting in the frost), and stick an M&M on the extra dot of frosting for decoration.
I got about 28 cookies, but that depends on the size you make them.
