The PERFECT SUGAR COOKIE
1-1/4 cups sugar……………………………... 2 eggs
1 cup Butter flavor CRISCO (MUST use CRISCO ~ That’s what makes them softer and chewier than cookies with butter)
1/4 cup light corn syrup …………………… 1 TB pure vanilla extract
3 cups flour………………………………..…..3/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda ………………………....1/2 tsp salt
Frosting ~ decorations as desired
Preheat oven to 375. Beat sugar and Crisco in electric mixer at medium until well blended. Add eggs, corn syrup and vanilla ~ beat well. Combine 3 cups flour, baking powder, baking soda & salt ~ add gradually to creamed mixture at low speed. Mix until well blended.
Divide dough into quarters. (If dough seems too sticky/soft to roll, wrap each quarter in plastic wrap & refrigerate about 1 hour.) Spread a little flour on large sheet of waxed paper. Put one of the quarters of dough on floured paper; cover with another sheet of waxed paper. Roll dough to 1/4" thickness. Cut with floured cookie cutter.
Put on ungreased cookie sheet (I still like parchment paper) 2” apart. Sprinkle with sprinkles or wait to frost when they’re cooled later. Bake at 375 for 5-9 minutes (depending on size of cookie shape). Do not overbake!! (should just be turning light golden on bottoms) Cool 2 minutes on baking sheet; remove to counter to cool completely. Frost as desired. Makes about 3-4 dozen cookies
I use tubs of storebought frosting. My grandkids like to frost & sprinkle them.
